After 7 and a half long weeks I finally have my 3 month old Samuel back in my care! I am very excited, and a bit overwhelmed at the same time also. I am very thankful that I did not have to go the parental kidnapping route and she returned Samuel to me without incident.
After the paternity test results were in she kept lying to me about being on her way up to return him. She didn’t have the fortitude to tell me the truth that she just couldn’t afford to do so. I made several different offers to her all of which she declined saying that they weren’t sweet enough and couldn’t make sure she made it back to Texas in time for her new job. I made arrangements with her to pay for her fuel to meet me in St Louis, about halfway between where I live now and where she is staying.
She brought her new boyfriend to the exchange, but beside that it was an uneventful exchange. I gave her her belongings and she gave me most of what she took down there when she left. She says she has more she will mail up but I doubt she will actually do it.
After getting Samuel situated we drove north heading back to our home in Michigan. We made it all the way to Lincoln, IL. It wasn’t as far as I intended but he was fussy from being in the car all day long and just wouldn’t stop crying. Once we settled in the hotel I played with him for a bit and fed him a bottle.
The hotel room was nice and it was fairly large. They were out of single non-smoking rooms so they upgraded my room to a suite without any extra charge. It was really nice to have that second bed in the room. It allowed me to lay out everything and make plans for the rest of the journey home.
We got up early the next morning and got on the road after I feed him a bottle. We made it back to Michigan around noon!
Samuel Finally meets his extended family!
We had been planning to take Samuel to meet his grandma, aunts and uncles the weekend the Ex took off with them. GG (Great grandma) Grandmamamamama (what Chloe calls grandma) and his great Aunt were all so very excited to meet him and hold him for the first time. I don’t have their permissions to post their photos on my blog so I won’t, but rest assured there were lots of photos and if we are friends on facebook you can see them there!
The kids are great helpers!
Kenny and Chloe have been fantastic helping with Samuel. They have been helping to feed him and bring me clean diapers and throw the dirty ones away for me. I am working on teaching them little things they can do to help out with Samuel. They are such a great help to me with raising Sammy. With just the four of us together we will grow and bond and become closer. I hope Kenny and Chloe will love their baby brother and be protective of him. They both seem to be willing to help its just a matter of figuring what they can do.
Have a blessed day,
