We had a blood drive at work today, and I was the first person on the schedule. I try to be good about things like this because I am O-. I have given a lot of blood over the last several years, and I pray it has helped save many lives.
It really isn’t terrible to give blood and when you are done they give you a cookie with a cup of juice! Also on a bright point, if you are having a weigh-in and have had a bad week you could shave off a pound quickly by donating blood! How awesome is that? I jest, but it is still true.
Anyhow, what I wanted to get at was this, I find that when I give or help others it helps me realize how small my problems really are. While giving blood isn’t a direct interaction with people, you can figure that when someone else is given your blood it is really needed. I like to think that some of my blood has gone to give people a second chance they otherwise wouldn’t have had.
I feel it is odd to think that way, but much like this blog, I do it to help others far more than myself.
If you’re capable of giving blood please do. Not enough people do.
Sorry about the randomness of this post, but I wanted to put it out there.
